Towards a smarter, more connected future: Transports Lebrun transitions to SCALAR and expands its setup

4 min read

In transport operations, continuity is key.

For Transports Lebrun, a long-established logistics company in the French
Champagne region, this means more than sticking with what works. It means choosing systems that can evolve and adapt without friction to new technologies, new regulations, and new business models.
After years of working with ZF’s Transics telematics, Transports Lebrun decided to not only upgrade their onboard connectivity with the latest SCALAR hardware, but also to integrate it with their new transport management system, Qargo. This move allows them to build on a solution they already trust, while preparing their operations for the next step in digital fleet management.

A long-term collaboration built step by step

Transports Lebrun has been working with ZF since 2012. Over the years, what started as a supplier relationship developed into a trusted collaboration.
The reason is simple: our solution delivers what operations need every day, while continuously improving features and staying aligned with customer needs. What’s more, our connectivity units offer flexibility to connect with a wide range of systems, avoiding dependency on a single provider.

When it was time to renew onboard devices, Lebrun upgraded to
SCALAR EVO Touch and SCALAR EVO Flow, keeping a setup that teams know well to ensure continuity, as well as access to new capabilities and deeper connections.

Seeing availability and acting faster, every day

SCALAR gives Transports Lebrun a clear, real-time view of its fleet.

Dispatchers can see where vehicles and drivers are and understand availability instantly. With a single click, they know whether a driver can take on a new job. This helps teams respond quickly, without phone calls, guesswork, or unnecessary back-and-forth.
Driver activity data is captured automatically and integrated into Lebrun’s internal systems, simplifying compliance and increasing planning accuracy.
What this means in practice:
  • Faster decisions based on reliable data
  • Fewer interruptions in daily operations
  • More confidence across planning and execution

Tools drivers rely on, not just use

As Matthieu Lebrun, Director at Transports Lebrun explains: “Over time, SCALAR has become a real team member in our operations. It’s a tool we simply couldn’t do without.”

Drivers receive their missions directly on the onboard device, and planners rely on real-time insights to keep everyone on track. Adoption is so strong that the difference is immediately noticeable when a vehicle isn’t equipped with SCALAR.

“Drivers feel lost when they’re in a truck without SCALAR,” Lebrun notes. “They’re used to having everything in one place.”
Eco-driving data also plays a big role. By looking at driving behavior, Lebrun can adapt training to individual profiles, provide fair and constructive feedback, and help drivers adopt safer driving habits — which in turn helps reduce fuel consumption and meet sustainability goals.

A strong integration connects planning and reality on the road

To bring planning and execution closer together, Transports Lebrun is now connecting SCALAR with Qargo TMS, a modern, cloud-based transport management platform.
Qargo TMS helps transport companies manage orders, routes, and documents in one environment. “By combining Qargo TMS’s planning intelligence with SCALAR’s real-time fleet data in one place, Transports Lebrun benefits from a fully connected setup where teams can see more and work faster without switching between systems,” says Henry Houyvet, Business Development Manager France at Qargo TMS.
What this new collaboration enables:
  • Faster decisions based on reliable data
  • Fewer manual checks between systems
  • Clearer handoffs between planning and operations
As a result, teams stay aligned as conditions change, and decisions are easier to make and well-informed.

Getting ready for tomorrow’s fleet

Transports Lebrun is already preparing for new energy types.

Today, 60 percent of the fleet runs on B100 fuel. With two electric trucks already in service, the company is actively investing in more sustainable transport and looking forward to SCALAR’s upcoming connections — including energy-related data from electric vehicles — that will help them better understand and manage energy consumption.
