Always compliant, never complicated

Dealing with tacho and duty times legislation can feel like a full-time job. Think of the time your drivers spend bringing in their cards when they could be delivering, or the time you spend checking who’s due for a break, tracking billable hours, and finding replacements when someone hits their limit. SCALAR automates how you collect and monitor driver compliance data, so your teams can get on with their real work: moving cargo safely and on time.

Frequently asked questions

How does real-time monitoring help prevent driving time violations?

When planning and monitoring day-to-day assignments, our Driving & resting time tool gives you a live view of how much driving time each driver has left and when they need breaks. You can see who’s approaching their limits and who's available for a longer trip, and plan around those limits ahead of time to avoid unexpected breaches. Drivers can see their own driving time information in the SCALAR Cargo App, so they can stop for a break before a violation happens.

Why do I need to download digital tachograph data?

EU law requires individual driver card data to be downloaded at least every 28 days and vehicle unit data (the data stored in your digital tachograph's memory) at least every 90 days. The data must be stored securely for at least a year.

How does Tacho management work?

Tacho management uses telematics technology to wirelessly transmit the data to SCALAR for you to review, filter, and export in DDD or other approved file formats.Just set your preferred download schedule — as often as every day — and the data will be downloaded and stored automatically even if your vehicles are out on the road. Need the data now? Press the button on your screen and download it on demand.

Can Tacho management replace manual downloads?

Yes. Remote data download is a fully recognized method of downloading digital tachograph and driver card data. The only difference is that you don’t have to spend precious time coordinating vehicles and drivers across different locations to get it done manually.
